Spring Break at the Explorium

March 27 - April 3 – Explorium’s ”Quilt O’ Fun”
Drop in our Open Art Studio all week, and use your creativity to design
a 6”x6” quilt square using a variety of mediums. All the
squares will be connected together to make wall hangings to be displayed in the
Children’s Art Gallery.

Monday, March 29 – Science Sensation Station – Join us
for interactive demonstrations of electricity from 11am-noon and physics
from 1-2pm.

Monday, March 29, 2-3pm – Sidewalk Chalk
- Make chalk to take home and create a masterpiece on your sidewalk!

Tuesday, March 30, 10am-3pm – Mosquitoes
Invade the Explorium! – Experts will offer interactive educational exhibits
about the life of a mosquito, hands-on games and activities, and live bugs!
All visitors will receive a goodie bag!

Tuesday, March 30 – Science Sensation Station –
Join Professor Mark from the UK Chemistry Dept. for exciting chemistry experiments!

Wednesday, March 31 – Good Scents! Good Fun! –
Join the staff of Good Scents Bath &
Body Shop for hands-on experiments through a creative approach to chemistry.

Wednesday, March 31 – Science Sensation Station –
Join us for interactive demonstrations of making slime from 11-noon and light and
optics from 1-2 p.m.

Thursday, April 1 – Dino Fun! –
Stop by to make your own fossil from 11am-noon and 2-3pm, and to
look for real fossils in the Dino Dig from 1-2pm.

Thursday, April 1 – Science Sensation Station -
Professor Mark from the UK Chemistry Dept. for exciting chemistry experiments!

Friday, April 2, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. –
It’s Dog-tastic! – Create a dog treat for your pampered pooch with the staff
of Spoiled Rotten. Draw a picture of your dog and be entered in a contest
to win more doggie treats!

Friday, April 2, 2-3 p.m. – Sidewalk Chalk
– Make chalk to take home and create a masterpiece on your sidewalk!

Saturday, April 3, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. –
Watch It Grow Seed Pots – Celebrate Easter by decorating a flower pot and planting
a real seed.

Sunday, April 4 – Closed for Easter

The Open Art Studio will open early at noon each day so
be sure to stop by and make something cool!

Explorium Opens Children's Art Gallery

 A new gallery gallery to display children's art was officially opened on April 25, during the Kid at HeART benefit event.  The proceeds of the event support the the Explorium's Art Outreach Program.  The new gallery, located in the former What's New 2 room, will display art from elementary, middle and high school students from various schools in the region.

The opening exhibit, Model City, was presented compliments of the Art Outreach Program and Harrison Elementary School.  32 Examples of Digital Art, by students in the Student Technology Leadership Program, opens May 22 and will remain on exhibit through June 19.  The exhibit consists of original digital art, photography, manipulated photography and graphic design.
