Summer Camps 2010

Here are the exciting Summer Camps being offered by Explorium's Education Department.

Preschool Summer Camps

These camps are for children 3-4 year olds. Camp attendees must be potty trained.

Prices: $110 for Members/$120 for Non-Members.

The camps are from 9a.m.-noon, drop off is at 8:30a.m.

 

Story Book Adventure Camp

June 14-18

Explore a different children’s classic book each day!  The day will be filled with games, crafts, and fun all relating to the book of the day.

Color My World

June 21-25

Explore hands on activities geared to the preschool age group. The camp focuses on the basic principles of art. They will learn about primary colors, shapes, patterns and much more!

 

K-2 Summer Camps

These camps are for children entering Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
Prices are $130 for Members / $150 for Non-Members
Time: 9 a.m. - noon; drop off is at 8:30 a.m.

It’s A Mystery

July 5-9

Put on your detective cap and help us solve a mystery! In this camp junior detective’s become expert investigators as they gather clues and work to solve mysteries.

Gadgets and Gizmos

July 12-16

Gears, levers, and magnets, oh my! Come play with simple machines, see how they work and create a few of your own.

Dinosaur Discovery Camp

July 19-23

Travel back 65 million years ago when dinosaurs ruled the earth. In this camp we learn everything dinosaurs!

Mini-Masters Art Camp

July 26-30

Explore hands on art activities geared to the K-2 age group. This camp offers an in depth exploration of a variety of art mediums and approaches spanning both traditional and non-traditional methods.

 

3-5 Summer Camp

 

These camps are for children entering third - fifth grade.
Prices are $130 for Members / $150 for Non-Members for half day; $190 Members / $210 Non-Members full day
Time: 9 a.m. - noon half day, 9:00 a.m. - 5 p.m. full day; drop off is at 8:30 a.m.

 

CSI Mystery Camp

July 5

Full Day

Young investigators will use all their skills to solve a complicated crime. Arriving the first day of camp at the crime scene, they will spend the week analyzing evidence, doing experiments to identify unknown substances, learn fingerprint and handwriting analysis, along with many other skills.

 

Chemistry Camp

July 12

Full and Half Day available

Our scientists will do experiments in polymers, viscosity, acids/bases, temperature, and many others as they use real lab equipment and learn the fun of chemistry in a safe manner. Keeping a daily journal of their experiments, they will learn the basics of the scientific method. This camp is a partnership with the UK Department of Chemistry.

 

Robotics Camp

July 19

Full Day

Using Lego NXT Mindstorms robots, students will work in teams to build and program their robots to run a race course and accurately follow directions. Skills learned will include robot design, programming, teamwork, and fair competition as they race to meet challenges against other teams.

  

American Masters

July 26

Full and Half Days available

Traveling from the 18th century to the present, we will follow in the footsteps of some of the great American artists as we venture into painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, and more in a week filled with creative activity.

 

There will be a onetime only discount. $25 off when you register a friend or $15 off when you register a sibling.

A $35 deposit will be due at time of Registration. Space is limited.
