POSITION: VISITOR SPECIALIST
Part-time position, 20-24 hours per week
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Visitor Specialist (VS) role is essential in ensuring a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable visit for the museum’s visitors. The VS staffs exhibits, activities, and admissions, focusing on customer service, visitor engagement, and operations. The VS is the front line for services such as greeting visitors, answering questions, acknowledging visitor comments and concerns, and providing a quality experience for all visitors. This position is dependent upon the ability to learn and communicate efficiently, cash register skills, strong multi-tasking, the ability to work and think quickly under pressure, and the ability to engage visitors of all ages. The VS contributes to the museum’s customer service mission, ensuring a quality experience in a polite, engaging, and professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent. BA/BS or some college preferred
Must have strong customer service skills
Previous cash handling experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills
Experience working with children and families
Ability to engage children and adults in an energetic, friendly, positive, and professional manner
Ability to react positively to a rapidly changing environment
Must be comfortable dealing with large groups of people
Ability to work with staff and public from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work in a fast paced, highly sensory, stimulating work environment
Fluency in multiple languages a plus
OTHER:
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
Uniform/dress code required
Weekend, school vacation, and holiday hours are required
